For 2003, 17-inch wheels are standard, replacing the 16-inchers. The climate control front seats and park-assist feature, formerly included only with the Ultra Luxury or Custom Luxury packages, are now available as stand-alone options. Finally, base cars ordered with the climate control front seats now feature perforated leather trim throughout.

• Superb ride quality, impressive array of standard and optional luxury features, top-notch interior materials, Lexus reliability.

• Not quite as athletic as its competitors, adding options raises the price to un-Lexuslike levels.

  Need more luxury for the price - 2003 Lexus LS 430

  I have driven several American made cars and have owned 2 Volvos. However I found my Lexus LS430 to be smooth, roomy and very pricey. Its seems all the great gadgets are optional. Body styling looks too much like the Avalon which is 25-30% cheaper. There should be a video tape in programming the GPS system.

  Poor brake design - 2003 Lexus LS 430

  The only complaint abaout this car is the very poor brake design of the front brakes. The pads needed to be replaced and the disc turned, the dealer informed me that this will need to be done again after each 20K. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS CAR.

  Bought well maintained LS430 with 66,000 miles 9/2009. Smooth, powerful responsive engine and transmission with good control via transmission alternative choices. Nice style, good mileage for size and power. Nice suspension, glad I did not choose harder Euro suspension. Steering too light, too much power assist for my taste.Excellent climate control ( no NAV) layout and function. Standard sound OK but nothing great. Seats look nice but lack lateral and thigh support. Passenger seat too short. NO SECONDARY SUN VISOR? Are you kidding Lexus? Gas pedal and brake too far to left, getting foot in middle of brake takes odd motion. Nice car but wish I had looked more at MB and DTS.

  Rear passenger door glass cracked. replaced under warrantee. The car has had a dead battery two times for unknown reasons. roadside assistance was non-responsive two times when needed. once extremely late, one a no show.

  Saved my life - 2003 Lexus LS 430

  Over all a good vehicle Saved my life Had an accident and all personnel at scene said I should have been dead. I rolled down a 20 foot embankment and took out 25 feet of concrete fence. I broke a finger nail and have bruises and a deep laceration on my right arm. A large animal ran out in front of me at night on a rural road. Instead of hitting it I swerved.

  Lexus - a dependable automobile - 2003 Lexus LS 430

  The Lexus LS430 is a very dependable and economical vehicle to operate. Although not as eye pleasing as my former Lexus LS 400, the ride is much more exciting and more similar to the Mercedes. I have owned and operated this vehicle approximately 1.5 years without any problems. My only complaint is the LS400 doesnt look that different from the Toyota Avalon which is less than half the price.
